Organized by ESTEP, the SecCarb4Steel online workshop will take place on November 15, 22, and 29, 2024, to highlight advancements, foster collaboration, and facilitate knowledge sharing. The event will focus on using biogenic and non-biogenic secondary carbon carriers (SCC) in iron and steel production, supporting the industry's shift toward CO2 reduction by decreasing fossil fuel reliance. By applying SCCs, the sector can make substantial progress toward CO2-lean goals within a circular economy framework, considering social, economic, and environmental impacts.
Sessions will take place in the mornings across three days:
- Utilization of biogenic secondary carbon carriers in iron and steelmaking, November 15.
- Non-biogenic SCC for iron and steelmaking, November 22.
- Recent project activities on European level following SCC usage, November 29.
Enrico Malfa, Tenova's R&D Director and member of ESTEP's Scientific Committee, will be chairman of the first session on November 15.
On November 29, Tenova will present OnlyPlastic: EAF working with polymers derived from plastic residue in substitution of fossil fuel.
