The International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF) and its Italian Committee are collaborating to host the 50th Topic-Oriented Technical Meeting (TOTeM) on December 5-6 in Piacenza, Italy. This milestone TOTeM revolves around the theme of decarbonizing combustion with a particular emphasis on hard-to-abate sectors such as glass, metal, cement, and ceramics. The inspiration behind the conference theme stems from the urgent emission challenges faced by the glass industry and the broader mission of the IFRF to advance applied combustion research while fostering greater collaboration and the exchange of knowledge within the global combustion and energy community. Additionally, the event will feature a visit to a nearby cutting-edge Carbon Capture facility.
Tenova's R&D Director Enrico Malfa and R&D Engineer Mattia Bissoli will join TOTeM delivering a presentation titled: "Sustainable thermoprocess solutions in the metal sector". The speech will delve into our innovative and sustainable technologies to foster the reduction of the carbon emission intensity used in the thermoprocesses of metallurgical industries based on the direct use of renewable electrical energy and green hydrogen.
