The Techint Group to Cut CO₂ Emissions

Tenaris and Ternium announced their plans to reduce the carbon intensity of their operations, and Tenova plays a role with its green technologies.

The two steelmaking companies of the Techint Group, Tenaris and Ternium, released the news of their road maps towards the decarbonization of production, reducing their CO2 emissions intensity significantly by 2030. This shows the deep commitment of the Group towards a more environmentally sustainable steel industry, setting specific and measurable targets.

Thanks to a broad portfolio of green technologies, Tenova is part of the journey to carbon neutrality. The technology company is engaged in several projects for decarbonization, some of which leverage on the use of hydrogen in steelmaking by providing its hydrogen-ready solutions. Together with Techint Engineering & Construction, Tenova will support TenarisDalmine (Tenaris’ productive site in Dalmine, Northern Italy), in undertaking the initiative Dalmine Zero Emissions, aiming to integrate green hydrogen both in EAF steelmaking and in the downstream re-heating and heat treatment furnaces.

“We have a solid expertise in applications that allow steel producers to reduce their impact on the environment – let’s think of Direct Reduced Iron, where we can use hydrogen as reductant: we already have several pilot as well as industrial projects ongoing around the globe. For Tenova, the collaboration with our sister companies within the Group is crucial to join minds and efforts, and embrace ambitious endeavours like Dalmine Zero Emissions. We are already working for a carbon-free future”
