TLX Flameless Burners for Heat Treatment

Combining gas and air staging with flameless technology, TLX minimizes NOx and CO emissions within a compact burner design.
Overview
TLX burners are typically installed on Heat Treatment and Roller Hearth Furnaces for direct rolling of thin slabs and on Rotary Hearth Furnaces. These ultra-compact burners allow achieving extremely low NOx emissions by means of the flameless technology. Furthermore, TLX burners are the ideal solution whenever high temperature uniformity is required.
TLX burners combined air and fuel staging is achieved through an optimised baffle geometry, without the adoption of any moving mechanical part (no valves on hot air are required).
Technical Data
Main technical features:
- NOx emissions not dependent on air temperature and on burner load
- Very low CO emissions (below 5 ppm)
- Work with cold and hot air (up to 520 °C)
- Large turn-down in flameless mode
- Equipped with pilot burner and UV sensor, if required.
Fuels: Natural Gas, COG, Mixed Gas, LPG (and hydrogen mixtures of them).
Turn down: 10% - 100%
Innovation
- Flame mode allows to heat up furnaces, with a well developed and stably anchored flame easily detected by UV sensors.
- Flameless mode can be switched on when the furnace temperature is above the self-ignition temperature of the fuel. This operating mode minimizes NOx emissions.
Safety
Flame detection in flame mode via UV or other optical devices.
Flameless mode can be achieved only when furnace temperature is over self-ignition temperature of fuel in order to guarantee stable ignition of the air and fuel mixture.
Automation
Modulated control with correction of air excess:
- 10%-100% for flame mode
- 10%-100% for flameless mode
Environment
NOX emissions: 70 mg/Nm3 @ 3% O2 for Natural Gas
The emissions are referred to these operating conditions:
- Air excess 5%
- Air temperature ≤ 450°C
- Furnace temperature ≤ 1250°C
- Burner load ≥ 80%
