Castellanza, December 11, 2025 - Tenova, a leading developer of sustainable technologies for the metals and mining industries, welcomed Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, at its global headquarters in Castellanza on December 2. The delegation also included Tika Wihanasari, Deputy Head of Mission of the Indonesian Embassy in Italy, and was received by Roberto Pancaldi, Tenova CEO, and the company’s leadership.
The visit is the result of an initiative by leading Indonesian steel manufacturer PT Tata Metal Lestari (TML), which invited the Indonesian government to observe firsthand Tenova’s technological capabilities as a key machinery partner for its advanced coated-steel production lines.
During the meeting, Vice Minister Faisol Riza acknowledged the strategic role of technology providers like Tenova in supporting Indonesia’s industrial transformation. He emphasized that the Ministry of Industry “fully supports efforts to advance technology and improve energy efficiency in the steel sector, in line with the Making Indonesia 4.0 initiative and the Industrial Services Roadmap 2025-2045.” Riza highlighted that the collaboration between Tenova and TML is expected to strengthen the national steel industry’s competitiveness, enhance its contribution to the economy, and accelerate progress toward Indonesia’s decarbonization goals.
Tenova CEO Roberto Pancaldi expressed appreciation for the Indonesian government’s engagement and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the country’s industrial development. “Tenova has developed key technologies to enable the green transition of the steel industry - from hydrogen utilization and low-emission furnaces to advanced heat-recovery systems. These solutions are already proven in major steel plants worldwide and are ready to support Indonesia’s decarbonization journey”.
Rendra Fernanda, GM of Manufacturing at PT Tata Metal Lestari, emphasized that the company’s investment is not only focused on expanding production capacity. “Our focus is not merely on increasing tonnage,” he said, “but on ensuring product quality, improving energy efficiency, and continuously reducing emissions.”
The visit concluded with a tour of Tenova's production and testing facilities, a technical discussion on hydrogen reduction, and bilateral sessions between the Indonesian government delegation and Tenova.
