Smart Burner Monitoring System
The Smart Burner Monitoring System (SBMS) generates a new layer of valuable data for monitoring the quality of the thermal performance as well as the operating condition/health of the burners.
Overview
The SBMS is a network of embedded IoT sensors that are securely connected to the furnace digital infrastructure. These sensors provide optimal control of the combustion process as well as ensuring burner operation.
In a typical reheating or heat treatment furnace, the measures are mainly oriented to the control of the mechanical and thermal process. A limited number of sensors, transmitters and actuators are installed “by zone” for the thermal process and “by area” for the mechanical process. The field signals are transmitted to the PLC as raw-data and PLC carries out the process control actions. The PLC is the data source for higher level optimization systems such as level 2 or level 3.
Technical Data
The SBMS generates performance parameters that represent key indicators for controlling process and maintenance:
- KPI (Key Performance Indicator) for monitoring the quality of the thermal process
- KHI (Key Health Indicator) for monitoring the health status of the burner.
Innovation
The SBMS is the leading edge of combustion control. The expected benefits are relevant to furnace specific process knowledge and fine-tuning control resulting in energy savings. The SBMS also provides an innovative predictive maintenance control for the combustion system mechanical parts.
Environment
The SBMS provides energy savings which typically results in lower emissions levels.
