TRKSX Self-Recuperative Flameless Burners
TRKS and TRKSX burners are recent additions to the Tenova burner portfolio, these burners provide self-recuperative solutions for free-flame and radiant tube applications.
Overview
TRKS and TRKSX burners are the flame and flameless versions of self-recuperative burners. Thanks to coupled gas and air staging, NOx emissions of the flame versions are always below 200 mg/Nm3 while for flameless version, NOx are further reduced to 80 mg/Nm3. The high efficiency of the integrated heat exchanger allows for preheating of the combustion air at a high temperature. This reduces the fuel consumption with resepect to cold air burners.
The burners are suitable both for free flame application and for radiant tubes (SER, P or 2P).
The burner can be equipped with both metallic and ceramic integrated heat exchangers. The maximum furnace temperature for a metallic heat exchanger is 1050°C. If a ceramic heat exchanger is being used, a service temperature up to 1250°C can be reached.
Technical Data
Main technical features:
- Very high heat recovery efficiency (recuperator efficiency up to 85%)
- Extraction of waste gases through an integrated ejection system (free flame version)
- High uniformity of radiant tube temperature (temperature difference < 60°C)
- Direct ignition start-up with dedicated electrode
- Flame detection with UV sensor
Fuels: Natural Gas, COG, LPG (and hydrogen mixtures of them).
Turn down: 20%-100%
Innovation
CFD simulation of a TRKSX burner showing the development of the temperature field in flameless mode at different levels of hydrogen enrichment.
- Flame mode heats up furnaces, with a well-developed and stable anchored flame that is easily detected by UV sensors.
- Flameless mode can be switched on when the furnace temperature is above the self-ignition temperature of the fuel.
Environment
Furnace @ 900°C for Natural Gas and Hydrogen - Burner load ≥ 80%:
140 mg/Nm3 @ 3% O2 - Flame mode (TRKS)
50 mg/Nm3 @ 3% O2 - Flameless mode (TRKSX)
Furnace @ 1050°C for Natural Gas and Hydrogen - Burner load ≥ 80%:
180 mg/Nm3 @ 3% O2 - Flame mode (TRKS)
80 mg/Nm3 @ 3% O2 - Flameless mode (TRKSX)
The reported value is the expected one. The guaranteed value will be fixed case by case according to furnace type and working conditions.
Safety
Flame detection in flame mode via UV or other optical devices.
Flameless mode can be achieved only when furnace temperature is over self-ignition temperature of fuel in order to guarantee stable ignition of the air and fuel mixture.
