iEAF® for Consteel Continuous Charging System
The i CONSTEEL® is an adaptation of the i EAF® technology digital package and is a modular technology designed to reduce operating costs, increase productivity & yield, reduce energy consumption and reduce emissions.
Overview
The iConsteel® adaptation of the iEAF® technology is divided into 3 progressive stepwise Modules as follows:
Dynamic Control & Optimization of Chemical Energy: using industry leading NextGen® off-gas analysis technology to optimize and balance the degree of post combustion between the EAF and the Conveyor.
Dynamic Melting Control: adds additional off-gas sensors (temperature & velocity) together with off-gas process control models to allow for online determination of a Mass & Energy Balance and the actual Net Energy imparted to the bath in real-time. With the on-line M&E Balance, MODULE #2 is designed to dynamically control the scrap feeding rate to maintain the desired bath temperature and production rate.
Dynamic C & T Endpoint Control: uses a combination of additional sensors and bath/slag process models to dynamically optimization of the refining path and precise determination of endpoint carbon & temperature.
Technical data
Significant savings have been verified in Consteel® EAF applications, whereby iConsteel® demonstrated savings of 8.9% by achieving more balanced post combustion between the EAF & the conveyor.
