Intelligent EAF (iEAF®) Technology
Tenova’s iEAF® is a progressive, modular technology package designed to provide EAF steelmakers with sustainable long-term savings by employing dynamic control of the melting and refining process and thus achieving holistic optimization of the EAF process.
Overview
The main objectives of the iEAF® are:
- Reduction of conversion costs
- Productivity improvement
- Address environmental concerns
Maximum total energy savings are achieved with a complete off-gas analysis from start to end of heat. This allows for the most effective, reliable closed-loop algorithms for post combustion control.
iEAF® enabling technology can be applied to all variations of the EAF process including:
- Top charge melting furnaces (bucket and/or shaft) using scrap
- The Consteel® process with or without hot metal
- Continuous fed furnaces (DRI and/or pig iron)
While the basic structure remains constant, the automation hardware, software and communication modules can be customized according to the individual customer’s existing automation system and network.
