Tenova took part in the on-site signing ceremony with Baowu Group for the new Silicon Steel Optimization Project of Wuhan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (WISCO)
During the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Tenova LOI Thermprocess secured four contracts with the Baowu Group, underscoring a commitment to advancing the metals industry's green transition. The signing ceremony, attended by key representatives including Mrs. Wang Jing, President of OBEI (the Equipment & Spare Parts Sales and Purchasing Center of the Group), and Roberto Pancaldi, Tenova CEO, unveiled the collaboration's focus on sustainable solutions.
The contracts involve the supply and installation of three Annealing and Coating Lines (ACL) and one Annealing and Pickling Line (APL) specifically designed for silicon steel. These advanced lines will be integrated into Wuhan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.'s (WISCO) plant in Wuhan. These contracts are part of WISCO's Energy Non-Oriented Silicon Steel Product Structure Optimization Project, a greenfield project aimed at achieving superior surface qualities and optimal magnetic properties for the production of non-grain oriented electrical steel.
The comprehensive contract covers from the design and supply of advanced process equipment to commissioning and production support. Tenova LOI Thermprocess will collaborate with Tenova Technologies (Tianjin) to ensure seamless execution.
Upon completion of this project, the new production lines supplied by Tenova LOI Thermprocess will significantly enhance WISCO's capabilities in producing high-quality electrical steel. These materials are crucial for manufacturing energy-efficient electric motors for modern electric vehicles. Ultimately, this ambitious project positions the Baowu Group as a global player in the sustainable steel production landscape.
