With its advanced design and equipment, the new facility strengthens Hasçelik’s production capacity and technological leadership, while raising industry standards for quality and sustainability
Tenova collaborated with Hasçelik, a leading producer of specialty steel in Turkey, on the successful start-up of its next-generation steel mill in Bilecik. The plant has now produced its first steel using Tenova’s advanced technologies, marking a key milestone in Hasçelik’s growth strategy and a significant step forward for the Turkish steel industry.
Tenova supplied the core technological equipment and engineering for the project, including the Consteel® Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), the Ladle Furnace (LF), and the Twin Vacuum Degasser (VD). The EAF is equipped with an advanced non-contact electromagnetic stirring system, developed in collaboration with ABB, and designed for continuous scrap charging. This solution enhances productivity while significantly improving energy and resource efficiency.
The new facility stands out for its high level of digitalization, automation, and sustainability. It has been designed to meet the increasing demand for high-quality specialty steel, offering greater flexibility and responsiveness to both domestic and international markets.
With an investment of approximately €150 million, the Bilecik plant also brings economic value to the region and is expected to generate around 500 new jobs once fully operational.
