iBOF® Auto-Tapping Control
Tenova uses specialized image recognition software together with specialized cameras to automatically & safely control BOF tapping for improved operator safety, fewer delays, increased productivity, reduced slag carryover and lower operating cost.
Overview
The iBOF® Auto-Tapping control module employs specialized software, cameras and image recognition to automatically and safely control BOF tapping.
The aim is to consistently maintain the optimum tilt angle to maximize the ferrostatic head over the taphole throughout the tap and thereby delay the onset of a vortex, which will entrain slag in the tap stream.
This module can be configured, to enable “fully automated tapping” with dynamic tilt control of the BOF and ladle car position without operator intervention, or, to provide an “optimum tilt angle guidance curve” for the operator to follow while manually tilting the BOF.
The tilt angle guidance curve configuration, brings immediate benefits at a lower investment cost while the fully automated configuration provides dynamic automated control of the tapping process for maximum operator safety, process consistency, productivity & yield and operating cost benefits.
