The project includes three advanced processing lines for the production of high-efficiency grain-oriented electrical steel, reinforcing Tenova’s leadership in silicon steel processing technologies
Tenova is making strong progress on one of the most significant electrical steel projects currently underway in India, following the award of the contract by JSW JFE Electrical Steel Pvt. Ltd. in 2025.
The project covers the supply of three state-of-the-art processing lines for the production of high-efficiency grain-oriented electrical steel (GO), a critical material used in power transformers and modern electrical transmission networks. The facilities are expected to contribute to strengthening India's power infrastructure and addressing the growing demand for energy-efficient transformer technologies.
Under the contract, Tenova will supply its proprietary technologies for three processing lines: Annealing and Pickling (APL™), Flattening and Coating (FCL™), and Decarburizing and Coating (DCL™). Together, these advanced solutions will enable the production of premium-quality grain-oriented electrical steel with superior magnetic properties and reduced core losses, helping improve the efficiency and reliability of power distribution systems.
The contract further reinforces Tenova’s position as a global technology leader in silicon steel processing. It builds on the ongoing project for two Decarburizing Coating Lines at JSW JFE’s Nashik plant and reflects the customer’s confidence in Tenova’s technological expertise, innovative solutions, and proven project execution capabilities.
As part of the ongoing project execution, engineering and project teams from JSW JFE and Tenova recently met in Bellary, India, for a detailed engineering workshop. The meeting provided an opportunity to review technical interfaces, align engineering activities, and confirm execution plans, supporting coordinated progress and adherence to the project schedule.
JSW JFE Electrical Steel Pvt. Ltd. described the project as a key step toward establishing domestic production of high-quality grain-oriented electrical steel. The company highlighted that Tenova’s technological expertise and comprehensive processing solutions will provide a solid foundation for a world-class facility designed to meet the growing needs of the power and transformer industries, expressing confidence in the successful delivery of this strategic investment.
